What is a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree anyway? Every year my husband insists on cutting down a tree to put up in the family room. Much to my dismay I agree to go along with this venture of his. I'm not quite sure why he must do this. I think he has visions of Dickens and sleigh rides going through his head. One thing he didn't count on, again, is my constant desire for perfection, in a real Christmas Tree, does this even exist. So off we go to yet another Tree Farm in hopes of finding the perfect one.
This tree was originally supposed to be decorated in a candy cane theme with lots of glits and glamour. When we got it up into the stand I decided that a rustic theme was much more appropriate. I decorated it with burlap, raffia and lots of natural elements and color, no glitz going on here! No tree top yet either, we're still thinking about that one.
Now, I'll let you in on a little secret. This poor tree has so many bare spots that I didn't think I could turn this into something half nice. Even Mr. Country had his doubts.
Sorry about the ladder in the picture but it wouldn't crop out..:(
Thank God for burlap...it does a wonderful job filling in large bare spots on Christmas Trees!
Thanks so much for stopping by....and stay tuned. I'm almost done with my mantel. Better late than never, I always say!
I'll be linking up with,

Well it is certainly a beautifully decorated tree! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI love it because it isn't perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour Charlie Brown tree is darling! I especially love the burlap. I was tempted to get a small real tree this year but "life" necessitated the fake one instead. Maybe next year. Nothing like the smell of fresh pine. I'm your newest follower and hope you can pop over to Cottage and Creek and follow back.

I agree with Kim. The tree is all the more charming because of its imperfections.
ReplyDeleteI really like the rustic look. You did a great job turning into a lovely tree.

ReplyDeleteI can not even imagine not going to cut a tree. You are so lucky there is a tree farm close by. The tree you got is beautiful. Who wants a perfect tree? I like them to be a little sparce. Charlie Brown .Yes!!! And it will be so fresh. I didn't get to do this this year, so I am glad you shared. Richard from My Old Historic House. KEEP IT UP!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think it is absolutely beautiful tree. Your boys did a good job finding it and you did an awesome job decorating!
ReplyDeleteMarianne, this tree is just beautiful! And how wonderful that your husband insist on cutting a tree down for ya'll, and it is a family event :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I think your tree turned out wonderful! And at least the whole family takes such pride in the tree! I love the smell and warm feel of a real tree, but it is hard to find a "perfect one." This year, I sent my husband and son to pick one out ...it takes me forever, and them...FIVE minutes! LOL! My son was proud of the one they picked out, and I didn't have the stress of finding THE perfect tree! :) And the tree they picked out wasn't too bad either! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBack to your tree...I disgress...LOL! Love the rustic effects and the burlap is the perfect touch!
Thank you for sharing the season and this adorable tree at Potpourri Friday! May you have a Merry Christmas and the Happiest of Holidays!
