So, on to my last Newby Post!
Last year I found this ceramic bowl at a garage sale, brought it home and stuck it in the closet with a lot of other things that I come home with. I really liked it but wasn't that into the gold color. Well, a lightbulb finally went off....sometimes it takes awhile for that to happen! I decided to paint it with some Chalk Paint that I had left over from some other projects. Painting it with the chalk paint was easy but waxing it, not so much. It was hard trying to buff the wax off with so much detail.
Not bad, but not really my style.
I used two colors, Old White and Old Ochre. I painted the old white first and than added some old ochre to give it an antique look. I then sanded some of the paint off to bring out bits of the original gold color.
I changed up my dining room table...again. I filled this bowl up with the pears that I had in the cloche.
I think that I'm done with the dining room for awhile....maybe I'll move onto the guest room!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Looks great!~ I always say I am done.............. NOT!

ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Bowl looks nice. The best part is I think, how you hung on to the bowl until you saw what it needed to become. Follower 101.

Congratulations on 100 followers.
ReplyDeleteHi Marianne! I just saw that you were one of the "most viewed" posts at Debbie's Newbie Party...congratulations! I didn't get a chance to look at your post on Monday so I'm glad that Debbie highlighted it...it reminded me to come back to view it. I am working on a dresser in "Old White" but I also bought "Old Ochre" that I have not used so it helped to actually see it on a project.
ReplyDeleteMarian what happened to all your photos. I noticed on my feature to you the picture did this too, so I came over to get another one and they are all whacked out
ReplyDeleteHi Marianne, what a lovely job you did on the bowl, much nicer in the new colour. Thanks for sharing. Sorry to be so late in commenting but I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
